In a not too distant land there sat a group of blind men and every day they would argue amongst themselves about a beast they had all heard of but had never seen. As time went on and the days months and years passed, their arguing would become louder, nastier and more aggressive, soon affecting not only those who had the misfortune of passing by but many of the populous so loud and raucous was there fighting. News of their behaviour finally reached the ruler of the land who in his wisdom offered these blind men the chance to encounter said beast, feel for themselves and decide once and for all who was right.

Many of the people who had gathered were concerned for they had heard that things may not be as straightforward as the blind men or indeed the ruler had thought, after all the beast may not want to be prodded and poked and for this reason many (almost half) of those gathered decided to remain and not to embark, whilst the others (just over half) looked on it as an adventurous quest and chose to accompany the blind men on their journey.

Much time had passed (over 2 years) before the party of the blind men and those who chose to accompany them reached where this fabled beast resided. Weary from their long arduous trek, the first blind man fell against the side of the beast and proclaimed it to be “hard” like a wall, that may protect us. The second man again tired stumbled on to his knees and felt the underbelly of the beast and shouted in disagreement with the first “no no it is soft, and warm, something that will offer us comfort”. The third man felt the trunk and said “it’s long but very flexible”, the forth again disagreed with the previous having felt one of the legs “no, not flexible but steadfast and almost rooted like a tree. The fifth shouted at the top of his voice “You are all wrong” as he climbed on the back of his compatriot who was still knelt down feeling the leg of the beast. “For it is large and flat like a magic carpet which will allow us to fly to far off lands, trade and be prosperous. The crowd of followers who had followed each blindman (becoming fractious due to their viewpoint) stood there in awe of this revelation, all wanting to believe this the one they thought would be the final.

But alas no
For in the meantime the last blind man had caught up, having crawled on his hand and knees for the last part of his journey. Finding himself at the hind quarters he felt his face being flicked and almost caressed by the tail of the beast, the man bellows “STOP” the crowd unable to see him all rush to where he was, he continues “It is like a snake, it will entice you, entrap you and then bite you” with this he tries to grip the tail again informing the gathered crowd, who chose to dismiss his alarming opinion (still buoyed by the previous blindman’s proclamation) “it is of rope, one with a deadly noose, we meddle at our peril”. Now able to take a firm grip he pulls with all his strength. His actions, in turn, startles this huge beast, causing it to evacuate its bowels and run amok, trampling on the many (not the few) and covering the blind men and all those that had gathered in (BR)excrement

The moral of this story is “If you wish to follow those with no vision and are prepared to be fed a load of shit don’t be surprised if you have your dreams trampled on.

In reality, this story has no moral for the Tory Party and those that instigated Brexit have none either.

I know what you are all thinking, in the original story there featured a Tusk that was sharp, pointed and some may say deadly. So here he is…
