The corrupt, lying, blinkered political class of this country hoodwinked the nation into believing that going to war was the right and honourable thing to do, how wrong they were. The main players have since reinvented themselves, some making a great deal of money in the process, WMD= We Made Dollars?. The short poem above highlights the 3 letters that came to the forefront of news reports, these 3 letters that came to symbolise the futility of the Coalition led invasion of Iraq and then Afghanistan.
The meaning of “Improvised” › to invent or make something, such as a speech or a device, at the time when it is needed without already having planned it: (Cambridge online dictionary). So something that is not well crafted but a device that is knocked together but deadly enough to kill and maim, so ill prepared and ill equipped were the Coalition forces they fell in the 1000’s, not to mention the psychological impact of having watched your friends, once fit, fighting figures reduced to casualties of war (The “walking” wounded numbering in their 10’s of thousands).
The meaning of “Explosive” needs no explaining, these tools of, some may say terror some may say desperation some may even say ingenuity burst on to the scene and on to the screen at the same time we the viewer were being shown footage from cameras mounted in the cockpits of multimillion pound aircraft launching precision guided multi million pound missiles on the less technologically advanced enemy. The explosions ripping gaping holes in the lives of the families who watched every news bulletin with heavy hearts, knowing that their Son or Daughter could be the next name on the ever growing list of casualties.
The meaning of “Device” An object or machine that has been invented for a particular purpose:. In this instance to maim and to kill. The lives of many were taken or changed for ever as a result of these devices entering the arena of war. Those devices and their makers could in a way be compared to those Nobel Politicians whose well orchestrated, invented lies provided those murderous machines with their quarry.
It’s not for us at the Guff to judge Mr Blair (and nor will it be History) but we say to you if you feel that sending the children of others to die in a foreign land (not to mention the 100’s of 1000’s of civilians of which a large percentage were again children) in an illegal war for a (true)cause that is (ig)noble then why not encourage your own children to join up and let them be parachuted into the hell that is war rather than being parachuted into a Labour safe seat come election time.
