It did not take long for the Blairites (or Blairlites) to emerge from the shadows to feed on the still warm political corpse that is Dead Ed.
Like the Thatcherites before them they refer to a golden age and an illustrious leader that no one can ever replace or indeed better.
We at the Guff beg to differ, yes they’ll argue that under the stewardship of Tony “lovley smile, lovely hair” Blair the country was steered away from international insignificance due to Tory infighting and inbreeding that had the nation becoming more insular, they may also mention how many thousands of children were “taken” out of poverty or how many new schools and hospitals were built. But we ask them………………..at what cost?
As the illustrious leaders loyal sidekick, Lord “I’m still one of you” Prescott once said “We’re all middle class now you know”, this it would seem is the crux of Labours problems. Whilst broadening the middle class they seem not to have broadend their appeal to the middle class. When people become better off they always look on rather than back, just as the Labour Party does, after all does anybody want to be reminded from where they came? Whilst continuing the social experiment (repackage, re-branded and renamed) they alienated those that had laid and still remain an integral part of their foundation. Yes Tony did win 3 elections by the will of the people as did Margaret but just like Margaret and her party the Labour Party is in disarray and may find themselves in the political wilderness for many years to come.

Tony on the other hand is doing just fine thanks. He has worked for a number of big name firms in the city, has been spotted working for “The 4 Horsemen” so sorry (re-branded) “The Quartet” in the Middle East, has been working for some world leaders that won’t ever be on the short list for the Nobel Peace Prize (Eastern Europe, Africa, South America) and last but not least THE UK CONSERVATIVE PARTY (ok if he hadn’t worked with them he was greatly admired by them) now that’s Socialism for ya. When not trotting the globe carrying out his “humanitarian” work Tony can be found in one of his 9 properties or baby sitting for his God Child (Murdoch Jnr).
So to all those Blairites that continue to hold Tony up as a shining example of leadership or Political Star we say “Crawl back to whence you came” for the Dawn of Blair was a false dawn and is no longer. We hope with the passing of Ed and Clegg that the “Which Blair (cloning) Project has come to a timely end and that all political parties choose leaders of credibility and not celebrity.
