As the CONservative party finds itself in a stew (and the Brexshitters are stewing indeed) we at the Guff have again after much searching found a historical film clip that sums up the state of negotiations. Again coincidence is not lost on us as the clip comes from a film that was completed in 1979 (the beginning of Maggie’s reign). We feel the clip depicts Britain and the Ruling (Fooling) Class and it’s current state perfectly.
In this clip, we have BoB (Britain of Brexit) Hoskins playing the part of Great Britain and Helen Mirren playing the part of his moll (Theresa May)

We find Great Britain (in this case just like many peoples misconceptions “The London Firm”) doing everything in it’s power to enter into a partnership with their American cousins but due to the way they’ve handled things (being too ruthless for even the American Mobsters) find themselves with their nose out of joint and having to search for another willing partner. The country now angry and out on a limb tells it’s former ally that they are no longer needed (reminding them of past “victories”)
The irony of the rant again isn’t lost on us as the “Special relationship” dissolves before our very eyes and the country (BoB) reminds the viewer of the verve of yesteryear, mentioning the “good old Dunkirk Spirit” (retreating from the Germans in Europe) then telling the Americans that he intends to go into business with the “Krauts” (the same Krauts the Brits were retreating from at Dunkirk).
Just when the country feels it has it’s swagger back and sees a way forward to negotiate it’s way out of the current mess, it finds itself held at gunpoint and Theresa May being driven away, held captive by the Irish (Is that the Republic or her very expensive friends in the North?) to face a fate of defeat, humiliation and hard a future. It would seem the Long Good Friday Agreement does indeed cast a very long shadow, leaving Britain “troubled”.
*Additional references, The Americans calling this country “A Banana Republic” (corruption and money laundering rife) also in the film we see the favoured Rolls Royce being blown up (The firm Rolls Royce hit by a massive fine for corruption now announcing job cuts numbering thousands). So whilst the corrupt rich lose their business partners or face fines it’s the working man that ends up losing their livelihood, how’s that for taking back control?
