When we at the Guff write, we do so with an unbiased agenda, we watch, we read, we consume and hopefully we disseminate all the (mis)information at hand. We give our views as ordinary people who have nothing to gain but everything to lose.
It’s hard to begin writing when one finds themselves lost for words, so it’s with the aid and inspiration of music that this article is written. Whilst watching tv last week I happened to catch a small part of a tune
I recognised to be a sample used by one of my favourite Hip Hop bands. After much digging I discovered the original and after playing the two tunes, things became clear
The original tune originated in the 70’s and goes by the name of Jezahel by Shirley Bassy, parts of this tune has been taken (sampled) and used with more dynamism in the Hip Hop tune Harder than you think by Public Enemy.
At this moment in time the Labour Party has as it’s leader Jeremy Corbyn (Jezza to some) who some would refer to as a throwback due to his style of politics and his policies ( like the Shirley Bassy record from a bygone era, that almost romanticises the plight and struggle of the protagonist). But as I write this,the vultures are indeed circling, but it’s not a vulture but an Eagle that has landed ( the first blow ) but it’s prey is not as ready to give up the fight and concede defeat as she would like. Galvanised by the support he receives from the grassroots and the hatred he receives from the media, Jezza fights on. The challenge to his leadership would be more acceptable if it were not for the thinly veiled act of treachery, the opportunists in the Party referring to his “lack lustre” Remain campaign yet not one word mentioned about those who fought so passionately for the other side, odd that. It would seem there are those who are blinded by delusions of grandeur. Rather than support the Party leader and help him and the party modernise policies, connect with the disconnected and become a credible force in opposition, they prefer instead to plot and scheme. At a time when (your own ex illustrious leader has been revealed as something the world has known for some time B.LIAR) the Tories are in total disarray due to Brexit, UKIP are leaderless, the Lib Dems a spent force and the nation still suffering from the effects of austerity, you choose to use all your energy to fight one another, not even at home with the curtains pulled but in the city centre on a Saturday night in the middle of the busiest pub.
So as this public vulgarity continues and those with their own agendas continue to give “Jezza” hell making him out to be Public Enemy Number 1, we say whether you believe Jeremy Corbyn to be a hell of a leader or the leader from hell, stand together, modernise together, fight together………..not each other and win or lose TOGETHER because getting rid of him may be “Harder than you think”.
It has only been a matter of weeks since the beautiful Joe Cox (her beauty radiating from within) was so brutally taken, not from us the people or you (at this moment in time) the self serving ruling class but from her loving and caring family, weeks since you all stood “United” offering us a glimpse of a brighter dawn, alas a false dawn. It would seem that the true heart of the Labour Party may be laid to rest with Jo.
