The following clip stars none other than the working class hero Michael Cain (who finds himself supporting a political party that seems less Abel rather than “strong and stable”).
The clip itself is quite apt as it’s from a film that has as it’s theme the tune “Self preservation society” (The CONservative Party only interested in preserving their wealth and their position of power over the rest of us). In the clip (on board a bus that had lost control and now balances precariously over a cliff) we see David Davis (played by the aforementioned Mr Caine) dressed in his Tory blue overalls on board approaching the bullion (billions from Europe a topped with the symbolic Union Jack) only to see it slide further and further away from his eagerly awaiting grasp, he shouts at his co-conspirators “get back, get back” but to little or no avail as the booty remains firmly out of reach. Mr Davis now realising the task of negotiating this tricky situation is not as simple as he first thought adopts the crawling on bended knee approach and when this too fails crawls on his belly like the serpentine creature his and his ilk have become. The clip ends with the Tory uttering the words “Hang on a minute lads I’ve got a great idea, uh uh” which kind of sums up the CONservatives handling of Britains exit from Europe, they thought it was going to be a smash and grab but instead it’s potentially more like a car (or in this case) bus wreck.
The question one must ask then is “Have we got a return ticket or is it a one way ticket to damn(ed) nation”?
