Standing at the podium as if champion, winner of the last Conservative popularity contest Rishi, our unelected Pm doing his best to appeal to the party faithful and to the floating voters (by criminalising those who are barely floating on boats not fit for such perilous journeys). His slogan of “Stop the Boats” written large to show how serious he takes this subject matter. Strange that it’s the last one of his five priorities yet the first one he has chosen to feature when speaking or indeed, put on the lectern. We all know It’s not about boats, it’s about votes, and he feels this approach will be the red meat needed for those carnivores on the right of the party. The daily cost of housing those fleeing war, persecution and death (not migrating “illegally”) has been widely reported on many news bulletins, yet these same broadcasters fail to mention the number of those coming in “legally” (or where they are coming from), which then a) makes out that all those coming from abroad do not have the right to be in this country (some have been subject to attacks or made to feel unwelcome) b) those in hotels are living the life of luxury, being waited on hand and foot (which is far from the truth) and finally c) mentioning the cost whilst many are dealing with the cost of living crisis and seeing services depleted allows the Government to shift the focus from them (who are responsible) to those (who are not). The following clip isn’t a speech from someone with an axe to grind or someone from the opposition, it’s from someone who is in the know speaking about those who should know better.
Should the Government stop those fleeing countries because of war or stop those fleecing the country because they want more? 29 billion a year equates to 79,452054.8 a day (approx. 79.5 million), 13 times the amount to house “migrants” yet funnily enough this figure isn’t mentioned by the PM, on the news, in the newspapers or even on BBC Question Time (who would give regular screen time to those from the “Taxpayers Alliance”, where are they now?).
We say enjoy your time as PM Mr Sunak for like your predecessors you may one day find yourself up sh*t creek without a paddle (the paddle being those on the right) and that day may be sooner than you think.
