So as Mrs May skulks back to whence she came, we reflect on her rise to power and her very short tenure as PM (only lasting 3 years compared to Maggie’s 3 terms, such are the hazards of the current political landscape). There are many who will offer sympathy for Mrs May but we say for pity’s sake don’t. Even if you don’t take the treatment of the Windrush Generation and Grenfell victims into account, as first Home Secretary and then as PM she played an integral part in her party’s inhumane treatment of the most vulnerable in our society whilst deliberately shattering communities in the most blatant case of divide and conquer in recent times. She expected to appease those that voted remain whilst at the same time giving those that voted leave their pound of flesh, but little did she realise that a pound would not suffice for they were ravenous and due to her actions has committed many to the state of second class citizen (maybe she should have taken the red pill rather than the bitter blue one)
