Whether you believe the deficit has been cut by a third or a half, the fact of the matter is that the everyday family, working or on benefits or indeed both (as is the state of the average wage) has not only been hit but hit hard.
Let’s just assume Gorge is telling the truth and the deficit has now been halved, then all that means is we can expect the same again over the next 5 years, or if Ed is to be believed and the deficit has only decreased by a third, we then have twice as much pain to endure.
That’s the trouble with figures and politics it’s a bit like ink blots, where as one politician sees deficit reduction and the dawn of a brand new tomorrow the other sees death, destruction and turmoil (both from up high in their ivory towers). Either way you look at it, the future does not look sweet at all, George and Dave has made it common knowledge of their ambition to “conquer” the deficit (whilst defecating on the masses). So until they can plant their flag on the ever increasing mountain of sick, poor, underemployed, unemployed, homeless and disabled people then yes the future truly is a bitter (cold) one.
